Author Guidelines

Pharmacendana Journal aims to publish high-quality original research, literature reviews, short communications, and case reports related to various aspects of pharmacy. To maintain high standards and uniformity in publication, authors are required to adhere to the established general guidelines. Through these diverse article types, the journal strives to serve as a comprehensive platform for the advancement of pharmaceutical science and practice.

General Format

Manuscripts should be prepared electronically on A4-sized documents. Manuscripts must be formatted in Microsoft Office Word (.doc or .docx extension). Articles must range between 8 to 12 pages in length.

Language

Pharmacendana Journal accepts manuscripts in both Indonesian and English. Manuscripts must be written in accordance with proper linguistic rules and standards. Manuscripts written in English must undergo professional language editing or proofreading prior to submission.

Similarity Index

Uploaded articles must not indicate plagiarism, which is defined by a similarity index of less than 20%.

Manuscript Structure: 

Manuscripts should be organized systematically using the following structure: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Research Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

1. Title

The title must reflect the content of the article, be concise and clear, and not exceed 16 words in Indonesian.

2. Abstract

Abstracts must be written in both English and Indonesian. The abstract provides a summary of the article in a single paragraph, detailing the background, purpose, research method, key results, and conclusions, formatted in Arial 11 pt. The abstract must not contain figures, tables, or citations. The word count must be between 100 and 250 words.

3. Introduction

The introduction covers the research background, the problem addressed, and the objectives of the study. Additionally, authors must position their work relative to existing studies, explicitly highlighting the novelty or contribution of the research. At the end of the final paragraph, authors must state the proposed solution to the problem as the main objective of the study.

4. Research Methods

Specify all equipment used, including brand, model, and detailed specifications. Standard laboratory equipment (e.g., glassware, cloths, filter paper) does not need to be listed. For animal studies, details regarding weight, species/strain, and age must be provided. For botanical samples, specify the Latin name, geographical origin, and taxonomic identification/authentication. List all chemical reagents and materials along with their respective manufacturers/suppliers.

Describe the experimental procedures in step-by-step detail. Data sources, data collection methods, and analytical techniques must be clearly designed and detailed. Methods must be described with sufficient clarity to allow others to replicate the study and achieve consistent results. Relevant literature references used in designing the methods must be cited.

5. Results and Discussion

Analysis of research findings must be presented clearly and consistently. Results should be supported by clear scientific data and detailed explanations. Highlight key findings, observations, or comparisons with previously published studies by other researchers. The Results and Discussion section must be written in continuous paragraphs without subdivision into sub-sections. Authors are encouraged to cite recent primary literature (published within the last 5 to 10 years). The discussion must directly address and fulfill the stated research objectives.

6. Conclusion

This section clearly and consistently answers the research questions and objectives. Avoid repeating a brief summary or restating raw findings. Provide a clear, accessible explanation grounded in the study's results. Conclusions should be concise, easy to comprehend, written as a cohesive paragraph, and directly answer the study's primary objective.

7. References

References must be formatted using the APA Style (American Psychological Association 7th Edition) in Arial 11 pt. A minimum of 15 references is required, with a strong preference for primary sources published within the last 10 years. Citations from social media, personal blogs (e.g., Blogspot, WordPress), corporate sites, or Wikipedia are not permitted, with exceptions for official national media outlets or accredited organizational websites (.org). The use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is required, with Mendeley being strongly recommended.
